Elsie Bokelman died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at her home in Olathe. She was 91.
She was born in Hayden, Ariz., Sept. 5, 1923, to Henry and Mary Ann (Pahl) McGovern. She grew up in Arizona.
She received a bachelor of arts degree from Arizona State University and a master's degree in special education from Northern Arizona University.
On May 16, 1945, she married Eddie Bokelman in Mesa, Ariz. They lived in Wingsboro, Ga., before moving to Olathe in 1985.
Mrs. Bokelman worked as a school teacher and with a 3Rs literacy program for numerous years. She was the last member of the group. She attended Episcopal church.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, computers and raising her Lab retrievers.
Mrs. Bokelman is survived by her daughters, Barbara Holiday of Olathe and Marcia (James) Murphy of Montrose; and a grandson, Bruce Zieger of Denver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Bokelman; and a son, Brian Bokelman.
No services are planned at this time.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
