Elwood Archie Rogers of Delta died March 23, 2017, at Montrose Memorial Hospital. He was 86.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.
He was born Sept. 17, 1930, to Lester and Florence (Payne) Rogers at home on Catamount Creek. He spent his childhood and attended school in Catamount Creek.
On Sept. 1, 1948, he married Rosemary Clair on Teepee Creek. They had seven children and shared 57 years of marriage before her death on Sept. 29, 2005.
Mr. Rogers was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed reloading, storytelling and cracking jokes.
He is survived by two sons, Tommy (Lisa) Rogers and Robert (Lea Ann) Rogers, all of Delta; four daughters, Mary Tunget of Olathe, Verla (William) Wilcox of Lakewood, Sheila (Doug) Worton of New Castle and Melinda (Randy) Sagmoen of Fairplay; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary; a son, Ronald Rogers; a brother; a sister; and a granddaughter.
