Robidoux's Encampment is set for Saturday, May 21, beginning at 10 a.m. William Bailey, founder of Fort Uncompahgre will be hosting a volunteer interpreter training. A group of skilled interpreters from the western United States will be arriving at the Fort on the Old Spanish Trail for a weekend of instructions on fur trade skills and docent activities. William Bailey's mountain man crew includes traders, trappers and trackers, all who are experienced interpreters and members of the American Mountain Men, an association of individuals dedicated to the preservation of the traditions and ways of our nation's explorers and pioneers.
This event is open to the public. Admission is free; donations will be accepted. The fort is located at 440 North Palmer Street on the east end of Confluence Park. For more information, call 874-8349.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
