Former Cedarege resident Enis Louise Hughes died Jan. 29, 2016, in Grand Junction. She was 89.
She was born in Leadville Nov. 27, 1926, to Hjalmar and Edith Anderson. She grew up in Leadville. She received a bachelor of science degree in education from Western State College.
She married Charles Hughes. They lived in Cedaredge.
Mrs. Hughes taught social studies and history at Delta High School. She sponsored extracurricular activites such as the Model U.N. program.
She was a member of the Cedaredge Community United Methodist Church where she was the choir director and worked in the church administration office. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Cedaredge.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by her children, Eric (Debbie) Hughes and Joy Hughes, all of Visalia, Calif., Carl (Debbie) Hughes and Laurie (Jerry) Noe, all of Grand Junction; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor; her brother, Bernard; her husband, Charles; and an infant son, Paul.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
