Entrepreneurs pitch their concepts

By Press Release

It's not shark tank, it's trout tank. Join local entrepreneurs from Delta and Gunnison counties for the inaugural Western Slope Trout Tank, celebrating the ingenuity of the rural west. Trout Tank will be held Monday, Nov. 13, at the Paradise Theater at 215 Grand Avenue in Paonia from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. Delta County will be represented by Ken Richards with his software development, Sympli4, and Merrily Talbott with her text-based, coaching platform, Savvy.

Richards, a long-standing Orchard City resident and 30-year CPA, will present his prototype developed over four years with potential to change the lives of accountants everywhere. Talbott, a long-standing Paonia resident, former high school counselor and theatre aficionado, will showcase her coaching platform built to assist our youth as they transition into college, independence and adulthood. Richards and Talbott, will be joined by their peers from Gunnison County, among them are Tyler Long, Rachel Alter and Mark Drucker. The five teams have worked tirelessly throughout the 12-week ICELab Accelerator program at Western State Colorado University. Each business will have six minutes to pitch its business concept to the audience and field questions from an expert panel.

Thea Chase, director of the Southwest Innovation Corridor, will kick off the evening with a keynote on the emerging startup culture developing throughout the Western Slope. After 12 weeks of extensive vetting and development, amidst moments of joy, frustration and tears all five of these businesses will uplift our communities, with their ambition and perseverance. It is a time to celebrate the ingenuity of Delta County.

The mission of the ICELab Accelerator program is to develop viable business models and launch scalable concepts that can diversify and expand the economic infrastructure from within rural Colorado. Free tickets may be reserved at https://www.event
