Eric Goold began his prep sports writing career at his alma mater, Wheat Ridge High School. He has covered high school sports in three different states and has worked for nine different newspapers, the DCI being the tenth, over the course of 15 years. He wrote about state champions in several different sports throughout his career. The ones that stand out in his memory were the 2004 North Pole (Alaska) Patriots and the last two years with the Paonia Eagles. He arrived in the North Fork Valley in 2008 and knew immediately that he wanted to stay in Delta County for the rest of his life. He is thrilled and grateful to be covering sports here in the valley, where the sports scene is so active, and the talent level is so high. In addition to sports writing, Goold writes historical fiction and is an amateur Colorado historian. He lives in Paonia with his dog Isabel, whose favorite sport is sleeping.
Tamie Meck moved to the North Fork beat where she replaced Kathy Browning. A big thank you to Tamie for her tireless efforts reporting sports for our North Fork readers.
At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
