Cedaredge resident Ernest "Ernie" James Koehler died Friday, June 10, 2016, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 74.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Koehler was born in Omaha, Neb., July 25, 1941, to Ernest and Doris (Carnes) Koehler. He spent his childhood in Omaha, graduating from Benson High School in 1959.
He joined the United States Air Force and served until January 1965.
He married JoAnne Brunner Nov. 21, 1967, in Windsor.
He worked 34 years for IBM and AIC in Boulder before retiring. He and his wife moved to Cedaredge in 1999.
Mr. Koehler enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing bridge, winemaking with his best friend and helping others with repairs.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, JoAnne Koehler of Cedaredge; two daughters, Kim (Scott) Powers of Westminster and Kari Koehler of Portland, Maine; three grandchildren, Melanie, Maia and Maxwell Powers; and his brothers, John (Pat) Koehler and Robert (Nancy) Koehler.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Friends of Cedaredge Animal Control or All Saints Lutheran Church in Cory.
