Families can win a night in a cabin or a camping package

By Press Release

The U.S. Forest Service and its partners are offering a chance for families to win a one-night stay in a cabin on the Grand Mesa National Forest during the summer of 2017. Drawings will also be held for a camping package (tent, sleeping bag and lantern) provided by Cabela's, and a Grand Mesa sweatshirt and two educational books provided by the Rocky Mountain Conservancy.

Families with children under the age of 18 can enter the three drawings. Just complete two activities on the Grand Mesa National Forest, write a short summary of your experience and get a corresponding sticker for each activity completed from the Grand Mesa Visitor Center. Mail or hand deliver your completed form to the U.S. Forest Service - Grand Valley Ranger District, 2777 Crossroads Blvd., Unit 1, Grand Junction, CO 81506. Forms may also be faxed to 970-263-5819, emailed to bwinfrey@fs.fed.us or handed in at the Grand Mesa Visitor Center.

The entry deadline is Sept. 30; winning families will be notified on Oct. 7.

What activities can you complete? Attend an interpretive program, hike a trail, fish at a lake or stream, camp, drive the Grand Mesa Scenic byway, take pictures of wildflowers, animal tracks or scat, have a family picnic, or ride your horse, ATV, motorcycle or bicycle on Grand Mesa.

More information is available from Brenda Winfrey, 970-242-8211, or at the Grand Mesa Visitor Center. The visitor center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
