FCAC board okays project

By Press Release

At last week's meeting of the Friends of Cedaredge Animal Control Board of Directors, unanimous approval was given to officially begin the process of replacing the old trailer portion of the Surface Creek Animal Shelter.

This will be a complex process involving obtaining permits, making arrangements for ongoing care of the animals, continuing its service to the community, removing the trailer, and ultimately constructing the new portion of the building, the board reported.

The building fund balance allows the board to proceed, but funding is not complete. Ongoing fundraising will be necessary.

The board, in a statement, pledged to make every effort to be expeditious with a projected schedule of about 3-4 months once work begins.

"We are very appreciative of all the community support and hope this project will help us better serve the animals and the Cedaredge community well into the future," stated board president Larry Dumler.
