Floyd A. Anderson of Paonia died June 1, 2017, at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction.He was 86.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, at the American Legion in Paonia.
Mr. Anderson was born April 14, 1931, to Harry and Marie Anderson in Mason City, Iowa. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Mason City and Rudd, Iowa. At 17, he joined the U.S. Navy. He served 20 years active duty and another 10 years in the reserves. He retired as a chief petty officer.
On June 18, 1956, he married Joanne Miller in Carson City, Nev. They raised their four children in San Diego, Calif., and then moved to Paonia 28 years ago.
Mr. Anderson was a longtime member of the American Legion. He enjoyed bingo, horses, caring for his vehicles, animals and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne Anderson; three daughters, Connie Fay, Robin Scott and Holly Sullivan; a brother, Dale Anderson; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his son, John E. Anderson; two brothers, two sisters; and a granddaughter.
