Surface Creek Community Services wishes to thank the Town of Cedaredge for allowing us to use town facilities. We would not be able to help the many people we are providing food for here in the Surface Creek Valley without the town's help. We also thank the Town of Cedaredge for helping us with the cost of the utilities we use. Considering the value of the utilities provided for us, the Town of Cedaredge is our largest contributor. Thank you!
Our mission is to assist in alleviating hunger for those in need in the Surface Creek Valley in a godly and dignified manner.
We are serving about 200 families each month. That is about 252 individuals, of whom 167 are under the age of 18 and 130 over the age of 55.
We give out food according to family size and makeup. Our clients can come in once a month and receive at least enough food each month to provide three meals for three days. The monthly food boxes include staples as well as a large variety of other foods depending on availability.
We require both proof of income and proof of residency in the zip code areas of Cedaredge, Eckert, Austin and Cory.
Much of our food is purchased online through Food Bank of the Rockies. We also purchase locally from Cedaredge Food Town and other grocery stores. Some is donated by individuals and groups.
We are an entirely volunteer organization. We have 35 to 40 volunteers who collectively average over 500 hours per month or over 6,000 hours per year. We couldn't do this without the volunteers.
Matthew 25:35: As you have done it to the least of these my brothers you have done it to me.
