Longtime Delta resident, Francisco Saenz, Sr., died July 10, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital & Regional Medical Center. He was 74.
Francisco was born to Manuel and Maria Saenz on July 4, 1942, in Balleza, Chihuahua, Mexico. He moved to Delta in 1970. He was a hardworking man, living the "American Dream" for his family.
Francisco married three times.
He is survived by four children with his first wife Isabel Corrola Saenz: Analeece Saenz, Martin Saenz, Claudia (Francisco) Simental, all of Delta, and Paulina (Simon) Heras of Norfolk, Va.
With his second wife Ruby Saenz, he is survived by four children: Maria Francisca Saenz of Grand Junction; Bernadine (Mark) Munoz of Clifton; Bobby Saenz and Yolanda Saenz, both of Delta.
With his third wife Alicia Gallegos he is survived by five children: Maribel (Joseph) Muniz and Leticia (Abraham) Rosales of El Paso, Texas; Francisco, Jr. (Irma) Saenz of Olathe, Joel (Lilia) Saenz of Delta, and Monica (Troy) Saenz of Montrose.
Grandfather "Popo" is surviced by 27 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Francisco was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers: Manuel, Melecio, Martin, Miguel, Mario and Jesus.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Delta. The Vigil and Rosary Service will follow at 7 p.m. The Mass of Catholic Burial will be help Thursday, July 14, at 10 a.m. at the church.
Following the Mass, the Rite of Committal will take place at the Delta City Cemetery.
