Delta Pizza Hut is hosting a fundraiser for Brandon Flores, the Delta High School student who was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on April 24.
On Sunday, June 5, 10 percent of the proceeds from meals purchased at Pizza Hut will go to help the Flores family with medical expenses.
"My son is coming back slowly but surely," his mother said. She expressed her appreciation for the prayers and love from classmates, friends and even strangers in Delta. He remains at Children's Hospital in Denver, receiving physical, occupational and speech therapy, and trying to regain motion and mobility in his arms and hands.
No charges have been filed against the driver of the vehicle that struck Flores.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
