For its June meeting, the members of the Plant & Dig Garden Club of Cedaredge met at the home of Joan Chambers. She presented a program on groundcover and then conducted a tour of her garden to demonstrate the many ways in which she utilizes it herself. Members were given the opportunity to take home samples of the many varieties she has in her garden. Joan enjoys sharing her garden in these ways with her gardening friends.
In July, we look forward to a morning tour of the Montrose Botanic Garden and then will partake in a brunch/lunch at a restaurant in Montrose for our meeting and "together" time.
Our members continue to maintain the extensive garden outside the west entrance of the Welcome Center at Pioneer Town. The seeds planted in May should be blooming soon. Other members of our club have "adopted" beds throughout the Pioneer Town grounds as their special projects. Gloria Good's peony garden is looking beautiful after her hard work on it. And Joan Kennen keeps the cactus garden in top-notch condition throughout the summer. Many of the club members also volunteer to help out in the Welcome Center's gift shop.
All who are interested in gardening, friendship, expanding their knowledge of gardening through our programs and activities, and participation in community service projects are invited to join our club. For more information you may call 856-3897 or 970-901-9360.
