Garden club to learn about bees

By Joan Chambers

The Plant & Dig Garden Club of Cedaredge had a picnic and plant sale at Cedaredge Park for its September meeting. Members brought plants, bulbs and seeds to exchange.

Our outing was serenaded by the Cedaredge High School band which was taking part in the Homecoming parade. We were lucky once again to see all the floats as they came around to our side of the park. But the best part for all of us was the interaction with the band members who stopped by our table to say hello. All in all, it was a very special day.

Our October meeting will have our friends Arnie and Cathy Ogden as guest speakers, relating their experiences as bee keepers and informing us about how we can befriend the bees through our gardening activities. We all look forward to their presentation.

Our club meets every third Friday of the month and is dedicated to learning about all aspects of gardening through guest speakers and visits to local entities that provide good learning experiences. We are also dedicated to community service through our scholarship fund, our care of gardens at Pioneer Town and Horizons Care Center. Our third goal is to provide friendship and support for our members.

We welcome all women who are interested to join our club. For more information, please call 856-3897 or 970-901-9360 for further information.
