Longtime Hotchkiss resident Gary L. Boden died July 4, 2017, in Ontario, Canada, doing what he enjoyed -- traveling, playing golf and fishing for "the big ones." He was 69.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 29, at the Hotchkiss Elks Lodge.
He was born on June 1, 1948, to Barbara and Robert Boden in Mt. Clemens, Mich. He spent his childhood there before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1969.
On Nov. 19, 1970, he married Wanda in Steamboat Springs. After two tours in Vietnam, he was released from active duty and worked for a mine construction company. Due to his work, he and his family traveled over the United States and Canada before settling in Hotchkiss in 1982.
Mr. Boden farmed and worked for local construction companies until starting his own concrete business in 2000. After retiring in 2009, he took up golfing, fishing and visiting with friends at the local watering holes.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Boden of Hotchkiss; his son, Brian (Bev) Boden of Buffalo, Wyo.; his daughter, Jennifer of Rocky Ford; two brothers, Tim (Sue) Boden of Oakland, Mich., and Scott (Sally) Boden of Mt. Clemens, Mich.; four grandchildren, Lane, Eva, Tera and Kodi; and extended family.
