Delta resident Gary K. James died Dec. 25, 2017, at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta. He was 75.
A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Delta at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m., prior to the service.
Mr. James was born in Bayfield to George and Hazel (Wheeler) James on May 1, 1942. He spent his childhood in Grand Junction and Steamboat Springs, moving to Delta in 1954 and then to Olathe. He graduated from Olathe High School in 1961 and attended Mesa Community College earning an associate's degree.
On Oct. 1, 1966, he married Leanna Parkinson in Delta.
Mr. James was a member of the First Baptist Church in Delta. He owned and operated Hometown Electric. He enjoyed fishing, fly-fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Leanna James of Delta; children, Melvin (Toni) James of Delta, William "Bill" James of Delta, Cindra (Tim) Thompson of Denver, and Gail (Gary) Gibson of Delta; brother, Carl (Judith) James of Helena, Mont.; sister, Kathy (Skip) Standish of Delta; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren with one on the way; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald James.
