Delta resident Gay Nell Muse died Sept. 18, 2017, at Willow Tree Care Center. She was 88.
Gay Nell House was born on April 6, 1929, to John and Pearl (McCard) House in Fanshaw, Okla., where she also grew up.
On July 30, 1953, she married George Muse in Las Vegas, Nev. They shared 42 years of marriage until his death in 1995.
Mrs. Muse was a member of the Loving Baptist Church in Loving, Okla. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, watching the Denver Broncos, quilting and listening to eight-tracks.
She is survived by her son, Dean Muse of Delta; her daughters, Toni Spruiell of Dallas, Texas, and Patti Caldwell of Vail; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Muse; one daughter, Lisa Muse; and one son, George Muse Jr.
Cremation has taken place. Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory handled the arrangements.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
