It's time to lace up your running shoes in preparation for the Deltarado Dash 5k Run/Walk. The event will take place at Confluence Park, on a 3.2-mile loop around the lake. Whether you are looking to improve your personal record or want to enjoy a nice walk around the lake with your family, this event is for you! The course begins on the island and will be clearly marked by JB Lopez and his DHS cross-country team.
Registration and packet pickup begin on the island at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29, with the 5k starting at 7 a.m. You'll beat the heat and be back along Main Street for the 10 a.m. parade. You can even stop and refuel at the pancake breakfast at the Lions Club Pavilion.
The race cost is $20 per person, and free for children age 5 and under. To register for the race, fill out the registration form at the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce, 301 Main Street. You can also register the morning of the event at a cost of $25. Those who register early will be guaranteed a T-shirt.
Proceeds benefit the JROTC and cross-country programs at Delta High School.
Delta Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) will be holding its annual fireworks show at Confluence Park on Wednesday, July 4, having received approval from Delta City Council at the council's June 5 meeting.
The DVFD has 28 volunteers and expects to have eight to 10 firefighters from Cedaredge join them this year.
