Organizers report that the Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center's first fundraiser was a great success. Tickets sold out quickly and more than a hundred supporters packed into RJ's Steakhouse in Cedaredge on Dec. 4 to mingle, bid on auction items, and celebrate the arts. The theme for the GMAEC event was "Jingle & Mingle the Night Away" and a benefit auction featuring 70 donated items netted around $18,000. That figure brought supporters closer to their fundraising goal.

GMAEC hopes to raise $100,000 by the close of the year and it is getting closer to that goal. The group has taken on the major project of renovating a building in downtown Cedaredge to create an arts venue with a performance stage, film capability and audience seating. If fundraising efforts succeed, GMAEC hopes to open the facility in late spring 2018.

The next fundraiser will be announced at www.facebook.com/grandmesaartscenter. In the meantime, donations to the nonprofit group can be made online through www.grandmesaartscenter.com, or by mail at GMAEC, PO Box 583, Cedaredge, CO 81413.
