The Delta County Commissioners recently heard an annual report on the Grand Mesa Nordic Council from council president Dave Knutson. The council has received a $190,000 grant from a private foundation that went a long way toward helping complete the recent purchase of a new trails grooming machine. Nordic council members donated almost $50,000 from their own pockets to help pay for the machine. There was a significant $65,000 trade-in credit for the nordic council's old trails grooming machine. The new machine will groom a swath of trail that is a full four feet wider than the old machine did. The nordic council is entering its 27th season of sponsoring outdoor activities on Grand Mesa.
