The Forest Service and local county representatives are seeking people from communities throughout Colorado, elected officials and special interest group representatives as nominees for the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) Resource Advisory Committee (RAC). Application forms must be received at the GMUG Forest's office ideally by Feb. 1.
The GMUG RAC has been in operation for the past six years and has recommended over $1.4 million of resource management projects. The current members are at the limit of their appointments and are unable to continue to serve by regulation. Interested citizens are needed to apply to the RAC to help keep this great work continuing.
Citizens interested in applying for RAC membership are encouraged to retrieve an application form and background check form (AD-755) on-line at www.fs.usda.gov/GMUG. Type in "GMUG RAC" in the search blank or contact Lee Ann Loupe, 874-6717, for additional information and/or application forms.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
