Grace Goetzfried

Austin resident Grace C. Goetzfried died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Horizons Care Center in Eckert. She was 84.

A memorial Mass will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan Friday, Sept. 18, at 12:30 p.m. Inurnment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver at 1:45 p.m.

Grace DeMers was born in Denver Oct. 9, 1930, to Edward and Mary Jane (Bodka) DeMers. She spent her childhood and graduated from high school in the Denver metro area.

On Aug. 6, 1949, she married Joseph Goetzfried in Denver. They lived in Denver, Evergreen and Littleton. They moved to Austin 23 years ago.

Mrs. Goetzfried enjoyed being a wife and mother, watching the Denver Broncos, boating, reading, politics, visitng with friends, and playing cards and camping in her younger years.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Josie) Goetzfried of Evergreen and John (Tamee) Goetzfried of Englewood; six daughters, Michelle Galloway and Diane Obermeyer of Eckert, Mary Jean Bartling of Mesa, Susan (Tom) Jorissen of Rogers, Minn., Patricia (Sam) Hill of Wetmore and Madonna Goetzfried of Cedaredge; three brothers, Bob, George and Joe DeMers; a sister, Rose Mary Turelle; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Mike; her husband, Joseph Goetzfried; a brother, John DeMers; and a granddaughter, Angela Goetzfried.
