Gwen passed away on Feb. 9, 2016, in Glendale, Ariz., in the arms of her sister.
Gwen was born on March 19, 1940, in Hotchkiss, Colo., to Clyde and Chrystene Pacheco. After a brief time, her family moved to Bowie, Colo. She went to school her first six years in Bowie. The family moved to Paonia where she finished her schooling, graduating from Paonia High School in 1958. She attended college in Texas for one and a half years.
Her previous marriage ended in divorce. She married Ronald Addington in Grand Junction on Aug. 4, 1966. She had two sons.
She was a medical secretary for many years. In 1985 the family moved to Arizona. She continued to work as a secretary until her retirement.
Her pastimes and hobbies were camping, doing crossword puzzles, riding dirt bikes with the family, and needlepoint.
Gwen is survived by her husband, Ron of Glendale, Ariz.; two sons, Don Addington (Angela) of Grand Junction, Colo., and Larry Addington of Surprise, Ariz.; one sister, Sharon Maynes of Grand Junction, Colo.; three grandchildren, Amanda Ward, Paul Addington and Jessica Batty; stepgrandchildren, Ryan Tilley, Morgan Tilley, Mallioriy Peck, Quinton VanGundy, Jamie VanGundy, Susan Forester and Stephen Forester; six great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Neeka Nevins and Alitsa Brown.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial will be held in the spring on Grand Mesa at her favorite camping place.
At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
