Harold Gray

Cedaredge resident Harold "Lynn" Gray died Feb. 28, 2017, at Horizons Care Center in Eckert. He was 86.

Graveside services were held March 6 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction with military honors.

He was born in Denver March 18, 1930, to Harold and Evelyn (Shafroth) Gray. He spent his childhood there and graduated from Manual High School in 1947.

In November 1947, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the USS Sicily CVE-118 during the Korean War.

Mr. Gray married Mary McFerran in Raton, N.M., in May 1952.

His artwork was featured on national naval recruitment posters and on the Omnibus campaign for Mountain Bell Telephone Systems. He was a member of the BPOE and Telephone Pioneers of America.

He enjoyed all sports, especially golf, baseball and football. He coached his son's and nephew's Little League baseball team.

Mr. Gray is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; daughter, Teri Gray of Denver; brothers, Robert Gray of Highlands Ranch and Richard Gray of Palisade; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, with a second due in July.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bob.
