This Thursday evening, Sept. 21, the annual Harvest of Voices will kick off the 17th annual Mountain Harvest Festival.
The event offers a veritable buffet of poetry and prose by local and regional authors. Jointly hosted by the Blue Sage Center for the Arts and the Delta County Libraries, the event showcases the rising stars and award-winning writers as they read their works at the Blue Sage.
The event is divided into two readings. The first reading's artist-writers includes Marla Bishop, Diane Sylvain, Gary Hall, Ruth Pettigrew, Art Goodtimes and Christie Aschwanden; second-half writers are Gerald Lell, Carolyn Ringo, John Mitchell, Jeanine Renee, Eric Goold and Craig Childs.
Tickets to the Blue Sage reading are $15, and historically have sold out early. Three years ago, to accommodate the overflow, organizers partnered with the community-owned Paradise Theatre to stream the readings live. Once the Blue Sage has sold out, tickets for the live streaming become available for a suggested $5 donation.
The event happens from 7-9:30 p.m. in the Blue Sage Curtis Hall theater. For tickets and information, visit BlueSage.org or call 527-7243.
