With next Tuesday being the Democratic caucus, I wanted to share why I believe that Hillary Clinton is the best choice for America. Former Secretary of State Clinton traveled over a million miles meeting with world leaders and her counterparts to forge strong alliances, support our allies and hold our adversaries accountable. Even before becoming secretary of state, as First Lady she traveled to other countries speaking about the necessity to provide civil rights to their own citizens. She has been a forceful lifelong advocate for women, children and families. As a United States senator she has voted in favor of immigration reform recognizing the dignity that is deserved by those who come to our country to work and find a better life. Many are fleeing atrocities and are seeking political asylum.
Sec. Clinton is dedicated to improving the lives of all Americans understanding that while the United States has fared much better than other countries during the Great Recession, workers have been struggling with stagnant wages. While millions have benefited from the Affordable Care Act, now the Congress needs to work to provide improvements to the program that will result in lower premiums and deductibles. Health care is still not affordable to millions and the hard work to bring the necessary changes must be made in a Clinton administration listening to the needs of the public and working out new legislation with the Congress. Finally, Hillary Clinton will never allow Social Security to be dismantled or privatized. She understands that the age to begin receiving Social Security benefits should not be raised nor should benefits be reduced. After a lifetime of hard work and contributing to Social Security and Medicare, no senior should live in fear of having those benefits reduced or eliminated.
Tuesday, March 1, is a very important day for the people of Colorado. It will be our opportunity to vote for a Democratic presidential nominee. I encourage you to attend your local caucus and vote for this year's most qualified and experienced presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton.
