Hillman medals in CC meet at Battle Mountain

Shauna Meilner attended last Saturday's Battle Mountain Huskey Invitational Cross Country Meet in Edwards. She graciously supplied the following results for Paonia High School's athletes attending the meet.
Paonia's varsity boys finished sixth out of 11 teams, with strong performances from junior Caden Meilner (21:10, 22nd), senior Tim Helmer (21:49, 28th), and freshman Elijah Evans (22:26, 33rd).
Ben O'Rourke, junior, and Harley Ewert, sophomore, crossed the finish line in 23:14 and 23:16, finishing 44th and 45th respectively.
Senior Eli Etter was clocked at 23:41, while sophomore David Lozano rounded out the varsity roster with a time of 23:57.
A total of 76 varsity boys completed the race, while another 72 competed at the JV level. Paonia JV boys' times were as follows: Ethan Bartlett 25:59; Hunter Norris 26:00; Isaac Stanfield 26:51; Dominic Limone 28:04; and Michael Hofmann 29:48.
Paonia varsity girls finished seventh as a team, with junior Brooke Hillman cracking the Top 15 and earning a medal with her 15th place finish and time of 25:28. Freshman Katya Schwieterman was second for the Eagles, finishing in 39th place with time of 27:35. Senior Macy O'Rourke was 44th with 28:11, while Alex Eaton wasn't far behind in 45th with a time of 28:16.
Nora Dransfield, who strained her achilles during the run, rounded out the PHS varsity pack in 54th overall, with a 29:57.
There was a total of 67 varsity girls who finished the race, while another 52 competed at the JV level.
Paonia JV girls included Mariah Griffith, 28:16, and Mercedes Norris, 39:03.
