Hope M. Fernandez of Delta died Feb. 22, 2018, at Willow Tree Care Center. She was 78.
Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Delta. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10 a.m. Inurnment will take place at the Delta City Cemetery.
Hope Munoz was born in Delta Nov. 7, 1939, to John and Mary (Vasquez) Munoz. At an early age, the family moved to Santa Ana, Calif., where she graduated from Mater Dei High School.
In 1978, she married Gilbert Fernandez in Las Vegas, Nev. They moved to Delta in 1980.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She volunteered with many community organizations, including St. Michael's and the Delta Food Pantry.
She enjoyed cooking, reading, especially detective novels, and spending time with her family and her pets.
She is survived by her husband, Gilbert of Delta; daughters, Monica Chavez of Los Angeles, Calif., and Barbara (Gil) San Nicolas of Indiana; son, Roman Chavez of Hailey, Ind.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Raymond and David Chavez; a brother, Fred Munoz; and a sister, Ruby Valdez.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
