Each year the Delta County Memorial Hospital Volunteers accept scholarship applications from Delta County area high school seniors who are interested in pursuing a health related career.

This year $3,500 in scholarships were awarded to Shelby Wilson, Simon Driver and Haley Park.

Wilson, a Delta High School graduate, received $1,000 for her studies at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Her goal is to become a physician's assistant.

Simon Driver is home schooled. He received a $1,000 scholarship, plus a $500 award as a Junior Volunteer. He plans to study biochemistry at Colorado Mesa University and eventually go into research.

Haley Park, Paonia High School, received $1,000 to pursue a degree in nursing through Grand Canyon University.

Each year for the past 10 years, the hospital volunteers have given out $4,000 in scholarships to deserving Delta County senior high school students advancing their education in some type of health-related major.
