Hotchkiss High School wrestling coach Richard Flores has hoped all season that the Bulldogs will peak at the right time, and it's starting to look like he might get his wish.

The No. 4 Bulldogs grapplers won their last dual and a tournament heading into this weekend's regional matches in Grand Junction.

Tournament Champs

Hotchkiss went to the six-team Norwood/Nucla Invitational last Saturday and won the team title with 156.5 points, just edging Paonia at 155.

Individual champions for the Bulldogs were Sergio Campos at 106 pounds, Chris Lovato (120), Colton Hall (126), Wade Katzdorn (160) and Connor Collins (heavyweight).

Paonia had four individual champions at the tournament: Gabe Ferguson at 132 pounds, Bo Pipher (145), Jaden Miller (182) and Trevor Smith (220).

Hotchkiss, Paonia and Cedaredge all head to regionals this weekend at Colorado Mesa University.

Results there will determine the local wrestlers who will represent their teams at the state wrestling tournament at the Pepsi Center in Denver on Feb. 18-20.
