Hotchkiss' Parsons runs to 800 meter victory

Senior Katy Parsons gave the Hotchkiss Bulldogs their only first-place finish at last Saturday's Frank Woodburn Invitational. Parsons won the tough 800m run against some good competiton and in doing so posted Class 2A's top time at 2:27.51. Palisade's Greta Van Calcar's time was 2:28.96.
The Hotchkiss girls tied with Faith Christian for eighth place with 38 points.
On the boys' side, the Bulldogs had a pair of fourth-place finishes that marked their day of competition. Hotchkiss and Ouray tied for 13th with 17 points each.
The Bulldogs received second-place points from their 1600 and 3200m relay teams last Saturday at the Woodburn Invitational. The 1600m relay team had a time of 4:18.86 while a time of 10:30.87 was good for second in the 3200m relay.
Freshman Mariah Griffith ran a 14:02.79 to place fourth in the 3200m run for the Bulldogs.
Sophia Schelle (400m dash) and the 800m relay team added seventh-place points for Hotchkiss' team totals.
Mae Anderson (1600m) and the Bulldogs' 800m sprint medley relay team finished eighth on Saturday.
Freshman Elijah Patrick ran to a fourth-place finish in high jump (5-8) while the Bulldogs' 800m relay team was fourth with its time of 1:38.15.
Zack Allen finished fifth in high jump, and Wade Katzdorn was sixth in the 400m dash to complete Hotchkiss' scoring for the meet.
Hotchkiss is scheduled to participate in a Saturday, April 16, meet scheduled to take place in Glenwood Springs beginning at 9 a.m.
