The volleyball team from Hotchkiss High School got its first two wins of the season this past week, and it did it in dramatic fashion.
The Bulldogs won the fifth set 15-13 last Tuesday at home and defeated Caprock Academy for their first win.
The teams traded wins in the first four sets 26-24, 18-25, 25-21, 24-26 before the crazy conclusion in the fifth set.
A raucous crowd was treated to the big win and first-year coach Taralee Williams continued to build a strong foundation for the future at Hotchkiss.
The young Bulldogs were not satisfied and tasted victory again last Wednesday, going on the road to defeat the De Beque Dragons.
Hotchkiss won in three, 25-21, 25-20, 25-21, and posted back-to-back wins for the first time in at least a year.
Rangely came to Hotchkiss last Friday and beat the Bulldogs on Homecoming, 25-10, 25-10, 25-18.
Hotchkiss plays its next three matches on the road: last night it was at Ridgway, Friday it is in Plateau Valley and then finish the stretch at Ouray on Oct. 20.
