Paonia resident Imogene Shirley Johnson died Feb. 24, 2018, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 91.
She was born on June 12, 1926, in Haxtun to Gertrude Burmood and Robert Sturges. She spent her childhood in Colorado, Nebraska, California and Oregon.
On Dec. 1, 1945, she married Robert Johnson in Reno, Nev. They had three children.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in California. She enjoyed gardening and animals.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Pam (Dana) Peterson of Paonia and Lynn (Ernie) Bussman of Sixes, Ore.; two sisters, Anna Olds and Dolores Wells, both of California; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Johnson; son, Robert W. Johnson; three brothers; and two sisters.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
