The Delta County Humane Society has submitted an annual report to the Board of County Commissioners detailing its efforts during 2013 to help provide spay and neuter services for companion animals and feral cats.
County government makes a contribution annually to the society in support of these efforts.
According to the report, "We have been able to subsidize the spay and neutering of many companion animals and some of the Delta County feral cats as well."
With the county's assistance, during 2013 the society has "assisted in altering seven female dogs, 10 male dogs, 23 female cats, and 22 male cats."
The report notes that the society accepts smaller grants and donations, but that Delta County's contribution is the largest one made to its efforts.
For all of 2013, the society has assisted in spay/neutering 11 female dogs, 15 male dogs, 29 female cats, and 23 male cats.
The report goes on to say, "These numbers do not include the numerous foster animals that have been spayed or neutered through other donations. Funds are also used to foster homeless animals until a forever home can be found. The volunteers of the Humane Society feel it is such a pleasure to be able to participate in fulfilling this need, and thank you (commissioners) again for helping us to make it a reality."blog comments powered by Disqus
