Congressman Scott Tipton made a brief stop in Delta last Saturday while en route from Grand Junction to Durango.
He and a staff aide met with the county commissioners for about 40 minutes.
Tipton got an update on the county's comments for the North Fork gas lease auction environmental assessment.
Tipton and the commissioners also discussed technical aspects of drilling technology, some of the particular cases where the county recommends temporary deferral of lease tracts, and administrative procedures of the proposed August lease sale, including the BLM's review and comment process.
The commissioners explained that the session will help ensure that the county and Tipton's office are apprised of each other's roles and responsibilities in the BLM's process.
