Delta community comes together to support Hospice

a08_hospiceWith the help of a dedicated team of volunteers and the generosity of the Delta County community the Bill Heddles Recreation Center was transformed for the Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado's annual Denim & Diamonds Gala.

"We had amazing support from local businesses and community members," said Lynn Shirk, community development coordinator.

"When you attend Denim & Diamonds it's easy to see the magic of this community coming together to support a higher cause."

According to Shirk, the event's net proceeds were $69,000, a 22% increase from last year! "The proceeds will stay here in Delta County and ensure our community has quality hospice care, palliative care, and grief support for anyone in need," Shirk added.

The gala tickets sold out weeks in advance, bringing in 300 community members to enjoy entertainment by David and Tamara Hauze and the Jakarta Band. Guests were thrilled by an abundant selection of great silent auction prizes, delicious dinner and dessert, and dancing into the evening.

"We want to thank you all for making this event such a success. So many people contributed to and supported this event in many ways. We couldn't have done it without you," said Shirk. "We will begin planning next year's gala very soon and hope you intend on joining us! Reserve your seats now, because this event is likely to sell out again!"
