Community Resources and Housing Development Corporation (CRHDC), a non-profit committed to providing pathways to housing resources and asset building opportunities for people in Colorado, is pleased to announce that it has won the 2012 Affordable Housing Finance Magazine's Readers' Choice Award in the category of Best Rural Project for its farmworker housing development, Alta Vista de la Montaña in Delta.
Alta Vista de la Montaña is a 41-unit agricultural community that allows for families to reside together in larger units.
Today, it is home to over 40 households and has almost 90 children as residents on the property. To qualify as a resident of Alta Vista de la Montaña, one or more members of the household must work in the agricultural industry to serve the many varied agricultural needs of the western slope.
The magazine received more than 140 nominations this year, and carefully selected the finalists in nine categories. Readers of Affordable Housing Finance were invited to cast their votes for best developments in 2012 via the publication's website.
"We're particularly honored to receive this award, since this recognition comes from others in the affordable housing community" said Al Gold, CRHDC executive director. "CRHDC has been serving farmworkers throughout the organization's 41 year history and we are committed to continued innovation, as demonstrated in this development, so that we can better serve the needs of agricultural workers and all those seeking access to safe, decent and affordable housing in the state of Colorado."blog comments powered by Disqus
