Rory Liston, a 17-year old-senior at Delta High School, won this 2011 Toyota Corolla. Bill Hellman (right) made the announcement on Saturday, Dec. 31, at Hellman Motors. Hellman Motors donated the car. Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets will be split between Delta Rotary programs and Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado.
Rory Liston felt very lucky on New Year's Eve after Bill Hellman read her name on the raffle ticket. Rory had the winning ticket for a brand new bright red 2011 Toyota Corolla.

Delta Rotary Club sold 600 $50 raffle tickets to give people a chance to win the car and other prizes.

Rory, 17, is a senior at Delta High School. She was thrilled to win the Toyota saying she needed a car.

Bill Hellman, who is a Rotarian, said Hellman Motors has given away cars before, but this is the first time they have worked with Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado. "It's for the great, great causes of Rotary and Hospice and Palliative Care. It's been a lot of fun," Hellman said. It was a great way to end 2011.

Lynn Shirk of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado said, "We're so blessed with what Bill Hellman has offered and to give us half of the proceeds from what Rotary has raised from this raffle. It's been an incredible experience. We're just so grateful. This stays right here in Delta County. We are in great need right now. We have probably 80 patients on service."

The Delta Rotary Club will use the remaining proceeds for high school and nursing scholarships, their third grade dictionary project, exchange students and those in need.
