Truck route gets a break on dump charges

The county commissioners gave the City of Delta's alternate truck route project a good deal on Dec. 19.

At their regular meeting, the BoCC approved cutting the county's tipping fee in half for demolition refuse generated from the alternate truck route.

The city had requested the price break for an expected 50, 12-ton loads of demolition refuse, according to discussion at the commissioners' meeting. The commissioners agreed to cut its normal $24-per-ton tipping charge in half to a total discount not to exceed $6,000.

The $6,000 in-kind contribution to the project is in addition to the $100,000 cash pledge the county has made to the project.
