Walmart customers penned short thank you notes to veterans, which were used to create the stripes of an American flag.

Robert Ownby, Walmart manager, has graciously allowed Delta Lee Marts Post 3571 Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary to distribute Buddy Poppies every Veterans Day. Ownby asked the local VFW post members to accept the flag on behalf of all veterans.

In addition to the flag, a large paper "scroll" with comments and thank you notes written by Walmart customers was also presented to VFW Post 3571. Both the scroll and the flag will be taken to the Grand Junction Regional VA Hospital and displayed as a tribute to all veterans during the holidays.
