Full closures of the westbound Twin Tunnel on Interstate 70 near Idaho Springs are scheduled overnight this week to install rockfall fencing above the highway.
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) implemented closures Monday and Tuesday.
The closures continue Wednesday, Nov. 28, 7 p.m. to Thursday, Nov. 29, 7 a.m., and Thursday, Nov. 29, 7 p.m. to Friday, Nov. 30, 7 a.m. Eastbound and westbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane through the eastbound bore.
Preparations for head-to-head traffic begin at 6 p.m., with the single lane configuration in place by 7 p.m. When I-70 is reduced to a single lane, the speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph and vehicles wider than 11 feet will not be allowed through the area.
Weekly advisories will continue to be distributed, detailing upcoming traffic impacts.
