Kristen Chesnik, the former financial officer for the Town of Paonia, made her first court appearance Nov. 28. Chesnik has been charged with the felony theft of town funds over a four-year period.
She was represented in court by attorney David Eisner of Grand Junction. They waived advisement and agreed on a return date of Jan. 16 for the setting of a preliminary hearing.
Delta County Judge Sandra Miller ordered Chesnik to provide fingerprints and a DNA sample within 14 days.
