According to provision in the sale, beginning Jan. 2, snowplowing on Forest Service Road 128, from the forest boundary to the intersection of Forest Service Road 128 and 128.G, and also onto FSR 128.G, will occur.
The plowing will affect approximately 0.5 miles on the former route and 1.25 miles on the latter.
Grand Valley District Ranger Connie Clementson wanted to make this information known to winter recreationists and snowmobilers in the area so that they are aware of these activities.
According to Clementson, "The plowing operations will likely continue throughout the winter months. In addition, recreationists can expect to encounter logging operations and log trucks during the weekdays on these roads."
The Forest Service is actively treating key stands of "Sudden Aspen Decline" in these areas, as well as providing support to local mills.
Plowing activities may impact snowmobile use on these roads, and the Forest Service pledges to work with local snowmobile clubs to coordinate activities, find alternate routes, and to help plan crossing opportunities for snowmobile trails and roads used by log trucks.
The Forest Service advises winter recreationists to be safe and plan their routes and winter activities in advance and to be alert especially in these areas. Current conditions and alternate route information is available by contacting the Grand Valley Ranger District.
