On May 1, Bruce Manning reported the theft of a large number of firearms from his home at 39479 Lund Road near Paonia. According to Delta County Sheriff Fred McKee, Manning was in California at the time of the burglary.
It is believed the forced entry into the home occurred sometime during the last week of April. Once in the home the burglar was able to force open two gun safes and remove a large number of firearms. Their estimated value is unknown at this time.
"We are concerned about the number of firearms being reported stolen in our area and ask owners to take necessary precautions to keep their weapons secure," Sheriff McKee said. "It is also very important that you have the serial numbers, make and models for your weapons secured in a separate location. The serial number will provide the best possible means to recover your firearms and make arrests."
A partial list of the stolen firearms includes:
Rifles — Colt AR-15, Springfield Armory M1A, two Mauser carbines, 1903 Springfield, M1 Garand, AK 47 Paratrooper, Ruger stainless steel mini 14, muzzle loader, Remington single shot, Ruger 10-shot rotary club.
Shotguns — Moseburg pump, Winchester pump, 1930 bolt action single shot.

Automatic pistols — Norton TPC stainless steel, Beretta flip-up barrel (two), Colt Delta, Colt Series 80, P-38 German Walther, SIG Sauer, S&W staggered clip, Colt Mustang.
