The Olathe Town Board of Trustees voted unanimously last week to cancel the 2013 Olathe Sweet Corn Festival. This year's festival was scheduled for Aug. 3.
"It was a very hard decision made strictly for financial reasons," festival director Bobbi Sale posted on Facebook. "The trustees want to use this year to rebuild the festival and bring it back better than ever in 2014."
The festival was launched in 1992 as a way to celebrate "Olathe Sweet" sweet corn while supporting local non-profit organizations.blog comments powered by Disqus
