Unemployment rates on the Western Slope are dropping, according to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. In Delta County, unemployment was estimated at 7.1% in May 2013, compared to 7.4% in April and 8.0% in May 2012.
In the Grand Junction area, unemployment has dropped a full percentage point over the past year, to 7.9%. The unemployment rate in the Montrose area is 9.1%, down from 10.3% a year ago.
