With the help of a dedicated team of volunteers and the generosity of the Delta County community, Bill Heddles Recreation Center was transformed for HopeWest (Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado) and its annual Denim & Diamonds Gala.
"It was a record-breaking event, but most importantly we had amazing support and participation from local businesses and community members," said Lynn Shirk, community development coordinator.
According to Shirk, the event's net proceeds were $85,000, which is an all-time high. "All of the proceeds will stay right here in Delta County to ensure that quality hospice care, palliative care and grief support are accessible to anyone in need," she said.
Three hundred and thirty people enjoyed entertainment by Miss Emily & Project Groove. Guests were treated to a silent auction overflowing with great items. After a delicious dinner, a rousing live auction kicked off, featuring a tropical vacation to Kauai Beach Resort, a Denver Broncos weekend getaway and even a goldendoodle puppy that won the hearts of several people!
"We want to thank the community for helping to make our event a huge success. So many contributed and we depend on their support," said Shirk. "Very soon we will begin planning for next year's event; we hope you will join us!"
