The theft of vehicles from the City of Delta and the unincorporated area of Delta County led to the arrest of two Delta men last week.
Early the morning of Oct. 5, officers of the Delta Police Department took a report of a red Dodge truck stolen from a residence in the 1600 block of H-38 Road.
They located the stolen vehicle in the 1600 block of I Road and conducted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle, David Ortiz, 36, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged aggravated motor vehicle theft.
Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Shawn Willshire, 38, of Delta for aggravated motor vehicle theft, theft by receiving and eluding police. Officers observed Willshire in the area of 7th Street and Grand Avenue driving a maroon Nissan truck which was also reported stolen. Willshire sped away before officers could take him into custody, but he was arrested a short time later in the 200 block of Grand Avenue. A third vehicle, a gold Jeep, was reportedly stolen from a residence on Fairview Road in Delta County. It was found deserted in the city limits of Delta near 1675 and H-75 roads.blog comments powered by Disqus
