Devil’s Thumb Golf Club is reportedly the only golf course within a hundred miles that’s free of snow. Those conditions are drawing golfers from Montrose, Grand Junction and other surrounding communities. Golf course manager Rob Sanders reports a stellar start to the year, in contrast to early 2013 when Devil’s Thumb was closed due to snowy weather. The number of golfers approached 100 each day of the three-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The only way that many golfers can finish play before the sun sets, Sanders said, is for them to start at different holes.
